three paintings|december 12 am

I often work on several canvases at a time. This is for several reasons, only two of which I remember at the top of my head: first of all, economic reasons. One of my least favorite things about the acrylic medium (which is also one of my favorite things about it) is its rapid dryness […]

I’ve been working all morning on three paintings so forgive me if I diverge a little. As you may already know, I’ve been working a lot with collage; and collage means glue. Glue sticks to everything and is amazing to peel off. So I peeled my dried up chunk of glue off the yogurt […]
Gallery Tilal|New Painting|Eve Chatting With Eve|December 11 PM

I started a new painting today. I’ve done hundreds of paintings and I’m always a little stuck at first. It seems that I have a different approach to every empty canvas. I have to keep reminding myself to just relax and enjoy it.

Many times when people see my works in real life they comment on the size, whether they expected the painting/drawing to be smaller or larger. So I thought: why not put things in perspective for everyone? *Please ignore the bad hair (and just about everything else that’s not relevant). Thank you.
New Monday|In the Nick of Time

I have finally completed this painting. It’s taken over a year (well, I did stop for months and months, but still, it was there gnawing at me, simmering on the back burner). I’m very happy with not just the way it has turned out, but the fact that I can include it in Tuesday’s show.

One moment she was in my studio in Kuwait, and the next she was in an American SUV driven by Maysaa Al-Mumin en route to Doha, Qatar via Saudi Arabia. She’s now finally up on the Modeen living room wall. This painting, The Note, has seen many exhibitions and even traveled to Florence […]
Old Unfinished Painting Redefined on a New Monday

The last time I worked on this woman I was livid. I ended up wrecking the painting with awful lines, dull, watered down colors and four letter words (which I won’t be showing here). Click on this four letter word for the original plan, or cross the bridge for previous layers.

I’m bound and determined to finish this painting by the end of this week. Eve takes a Profile Pic is the second of a series for my March exhibition at the Gallery Tilal.

Teddy Bee Almost Complete

I started this painting months and months ago after a visit from Teddy Bee and his mom/companian/human friend. It’s going to be sold for a charity of his choice soon. I’ll post the final painting and more details by Sunday.

I started this painting earlier today. Don’t be impressed, a lot of the paint was already on there (I rarely do this, but I’m painting over an old one that was sitting heavy on my mind).
