My nephew Mahmoud saw a shirt I had painted a while ago and said that he would like one. I was so flattered by his request that I couldn’t help but oblige him. Listen to Eez-eh by Kasabian
christmas comes early

So I was reading the news on the BBC World website last night and as always I went to the photo section. Immediately my eyes caught the ‘Your Photos’ section. Then I saw ‘Your Pictures of 2013’ subtitled (because it matters to me) ‘A selection of the best readers’ photos’. Immediately my heart sank because […]

I had a lovely morning with my niece Yasmeen yesterday. We went to Jarir bookstore and each walked out with one bag, one canvas and a gift certificate. We went to mine where she drew and I painted. Does it get better than that on a Saturday morning?
new instagram project } the astrid~ghadah exchange

My new Instagram friend and collaborator Astrid Walsh and I have a little exchange thing going on. She’s adopted two of my girls, who now live in Cork, Ireland and I just welcomed her two ladies. We’re going to give them a bit of an adventure and hope we-the moms-learn more about each other this […]
art as disease

It’s not about the drawings, the paintings, the prints, the photos. It’s about where it all comes from. It’s about the energy, the emotion and the disease inside.
a new life starts with a new sofa

My new sofa was finally delivered today. But of course to make space for it, my studio and home had to undergo a major upheaval. After all, it’s the only way to make room for new love.
trying something new/old

This afternoon I made a special trip to the stationary store. I figured I deserved a gift because I’ve been a good girl all Ramadan. Plus I felt inspired to try out new things. Or old things that I hadn’t done for over twenty years, like block printing. So I bought, among other goodies, all […]
kiss & cut } two pages today

Yesterday I got a call from Gallery Tilal. They urgently needed hi-res images of my works for the invitation. I immediately called my right-hand woman Jana and she came through for me. J, you’re a rock star! Here are the two images I sent (I am really so very happy with them!) and some behind-the-scenes […]
a visit from faisal the f

I find superlatives pointless. They’re hyperbolic and highly arguable. But I’m going to say this with complete conviction: Faisal Al Fouzan, aka Faisal the F, is the best Instagrammer this country has to offer. I am, mind you, prepared to be convinced otherwise. I just don’t see it happening. This morning on a visit to […]

an apology
Posted on October 5, 2012 4 Comments
This is an apology to you, my PGB. I feel I have neglected you in the past few weeks. It’s just that I’ve been quite busy with something I feel is a little repetitive, and I don’t want to tire you. And here’s the proof.
a visit to deema al-ghunaim’s studio
Posted on December 18, 2011 4 Comments
Last night I paid a visit to my friend architect/photographer/designer (I can go on) Deema Al-Ghunaim’s studio space she’s rented at the Arabana warehouse in Shuwaikh. The space is still in its embryonic stages but to know this little gem exists amid the hustle and bustle of industrial Shuwaikh is soothing to the heart and […]
The MENASA Studio Dispatches|ArtDubai 2011
Posted on October 2, 2011 3 Comments
I was asked early 2011 to prepare a five-minute recording for the MENASA Studio Dispatches project, to be played at 2011’s ArtDubai Contemporary Art Fair. Artists were asked to contribute a five-minute recording which provided an insight into their relationship with their work and studio. Click here to take you there. Beware: the graphics, although gorgeous, […]
studio redo {phase two} putting things back together again
Posted on August 28, 2011 5 Comments
Well, this is as much as I can do with it for the time-being. My advisor Yasmine’s at work today, so we decided that, because our goal has expanded to re-doing the whole area, including the living room and desk area, we’d wait for the weekend to proceed. One step at a time, and of […]
studio redo {phase one} painting a wall
Posted on August 27, 2011 2 Comments
Today I started an ambitious project to get this section of my studio/home clutter-free. Because my workplace is more a home where I work than a studio I live in, I don’t like looking at this wall. So I solicited my sister Yasmine, who works at IKEA and has a good eye for interior detail. […]
Photographing Eves on a Monday
Posted on February 14, 2011 Leave a Comment
Jana came in this morning to photograph the complete Stories of Eves collection. I tried to set up the studio the best way I could to achieve maximum efficiency. I love to feel that I can win over time, so I’m always finding ways to reduce it. So much that […]
In My Studio this Morning|Two New Paintings, Two I’m Working on & One About to be Done
Posted on January 23, 2011 Leave a Comment
I love Sunday mornings; just coming out of the weekend, everyone’s either at work or the malls, and I’m here in my space, enjoying some time to myself. And some time with my girls.
Struggle in the Studio|Ghadah Vs. Eve
Posted on January 16, 2011 4 Comments
Two of the three paintings I’m currently working on are giving me hell. If I could, I’d punch them both and get it over with. I’m struggling to get them out of the rut they’re in. But I know we’ll all pull through. Trust and patience.
Eve on TV

I was visited this morning by the Kuwait Television crew (Rashed Bader, Amani Al-Enezy, Ahmed Al-Mutairy and Abdulaziz Alhadad), who came in to film a segment for a new variety show to air next year. I was quite nervous because I had to talk about my work in Arabic, and unfortunately I’m not too […]
